Road Tax

Postby Wheeledbeast » Wed Oct 01, 2014 4:29 pm

You/ we are no longer obliged to show a tax disc on our vehicles in the UK. So I thought it would be fun to make and show a period stile disc. My truck was made in 1963, so it should have a 64 disk so I made this.

Then I found out 64 disks are red :!:  I was just starting to sulk when I found this web site.

This has got loads of disc images that you can copy and print out. (If you feel the need to be as sad as I am :? ). I have got one the correct colour now which will be in the windscreen in the near future :!: :) .

May do the same to replace fill the gap once the current tax disc expires.

Without a tax disc having to be shown. I can see a rise in vehicles being sorned. There will be a few more driving about with no insurance or tax now. For some who live out in the sticks, what are there chances of driving through a ANPR camera out in the sticks.

At least with a having to show a disc, you know who has tax and who hasn't.

I agree, I don't think much to the idea. Imagine a smallish firm with a fleet of identical white transits, that operate in different parts of the country. What would stop them taxing just one and having identical numberplates put on each van? Cloning is going to increase, that is for sure.

Get rid of road tax altogether !!! put a 1p on a litre of fuel.
The more you drive the more you wear the roads out! But the more you drive the more fuel you buy.
No one can avoid paying it you can clone as many vehicles as you like you still have to put fuel in them.
There is no such thing as a problem, just a solution you have yet to find
