Hello from Rutland / Yorkshire

Postby maudie » Sun Sep 15, 2013 1:31 pm

Hi all,

I suppose it was time I started contributing to forums instead of sitting on the side lines. I am not a member of 900 club as such ie I don't own a 1 ton or an FC, but one day I hope to have a 2b maybe even a 1 ton.

I've been persuaded by recently meeting Das and Dan to share my knowledge about some of the optional equipment fitted to various Series Land Rover's and hopefully dispel some of the myths and legends surrounding them, without starting too many myself. A subject very close to my heart is the Land Rover hydraulic winch which I know was fitted to many 1 ton Land Rovers, especially SEB vehicles.

The current fleet includes a Series 3 1/2 Ton Lightweight (so i'm half way there!) a Military Series 2a Rover 11 (almost a 1 ton) and a recent addition is an Air Drive / Broom Wade conversion.

I am an accidental 'trader', what do I mean by this. Well I was quite enjoying a career in the RAF and spending my disposal income on collecting interesting Land Rover based items until illness struck and I was discharged. I decided to go into business doing my other great passion which is obviously Land Rovers.

I hope you will find some of my posts interesting and if you have any questions about PTO's winches free wheeling hubs and special conversions please just ask.

Regards Rob

Welcome Rob, as they said to James Bond "We have been expecting you".

Certainly very much looking forward to learning more about my winch, you never know I may even get you to give it the once over at some point. Can't hurt? Ditto the Fairey capstan on the 88".

Either the H plate is wrong or that has an early tailgate...should be 2 bolt on an H reg.

(I'm really getting sad with the rivet-counting aren't I? Please help.)

Picked up the Air Drive / broom-wade. Pretty uneventful except nearly lost a door top on the M6! For the record the badge on the back is not AD it's AL standing for Allan Lloyd who was the vendor.
