Due to hit the shelves in May apparently. John Carrol is involved, plus some other chaps from the series 1 club. Will focus primarily on series vehicles, sounds worth getting?

Depends on price and availability. If its £6 a copy and I have to drive 20 miles each way to get one in Dumfries then I'll not bother.

The main reasons I'm still reading LRM and LRO is the fact I can download them onto the iPad for £3 a copy and a 5 minute wait, without having to leave the comfort of the couch.

Go to the local newsagent you say? On principle no, due to some rather unsavoury convictions the owners of the shop have received.

I would imagine pricewise it would be about the same as the others, maybe a little less as I can't see them being quite so full of info. I will reserve judgement on content until I see it, it would depend for me if it is an organic view (ie everything from concourse to daily-drive rat with everything in between) or specialising too much in one way or another. I wonder if classic Range Rovers will be included? Either way, assuming it is a success it would be nice to get some 101 & FC info there. I would imagine as well that subscriptions (they post to your door) and downloads would be available.

To be honest I typed a long reply earlier and then chose against posting it, but you mention something in your reply above so I'm going to post it!

What is a Classic Land Rover?

Leaf sprung? Well I would argue an early 110 is and thats not on leafs

2 door Range Rover? But that goes upto 1990ish so surely an early '80s 4 door is.

3 door Disco?

Personally I would say an early Freelander with black window surrounds is a classic, but I bet they wont be included.

My expectations arent high on this!!

Yes I too am curious about the cut-off and which direction it will take. I would probably (were it my choice) include the early 90/110/127 upto when the name became Defender, the classic range rover in all its forms, and the disco 1. The freelander in fairness was never intended to be bought by the same people and doesn't seem to have the same appeal to that group even now.

I would actually suggest that the main thrust should be in intent, not dates and model cut-offs, ie, a magazine about something other than either a) modifying a vehicle to death, b) overlanding at vast expense or c) spending as little money as possible running what is in effect an expensive toy - all the current mags seem to be a mix of all three. When it comes to historical aspects I'm sorry to say that none of them are especially good. This is probably why now you will tread the length and breadth of the country to find an original 90/110, disco 1, RR classic etc, they just don't seem to turn up.

I would point out that no Land Rover was intended to be bought by enthusiasts, certainly not 1 tons!!

If Classic involved the early trails machines, the early hybrids, early modifications etc then it would be interesting.

If its rehashing the same old stuff it won't last. How many times would you like to read about a restored 80"? I have one before anyone thinks I'm bias!

I think you know what I meant Jeremy The Freelander was not and is not even now aimed at the same market as the Defender for example.
