I presume you mean a 3.8?

Interesting engine for a Land Rover, reputed to snap lay shafts with a careless gear change.

Might have been 3.8, heavy old lump but changing it was out of the question in the time we had, I drove it back to Brighton with Dad following in the 110, he said there was no smoke, good for an engine of that era.

So I'm told.

I have a mate who used to run one in a 109 in the 70's.
Apparently they reay weren't suited for a Land Rover, whilst the smaller (I think) 2.5 was, however the 3.8 was available for about a quarter of the price, hence why they were used.

Apparently in a 109 with 3.54 Diffs and 7.50's -driven with some care so as not to grenade the gearbox it would return no less than 30mpg and would run at 60mph on the road, empty, laden, or towing.

You need to upload to a third party host such as photobucket and link them into your post.

You should be able to attach photos to your posts. Just below where you would click submit for a post should be a field to upload a photo.

tried to load as photo as you describe, it says file is too big , sorry Im not a teccie :oops: , no idea how to make it smaller :oops:
