started getting the new engine ready.



sump seems to be full of copper any body any idea what that means it is a little bit concerning

Pull some bearing caps and see what they look like. Eminently possible that the 'copper' is bronze from the bearing shells which have worn through the white metal.

hmm not so good then. May be i should cheer my self up by combining the previously fitted checker plate with a massive cow catcher

Had a look at one of the main bearings, and although it showed a small amount of wear, it looked pretty good to me. Ill try and have a look at the big ends. does any one know of an oil flow diagram whitch bigg end is furthist from the oil feed?

The ones at the back usually take the most load, and are therefore more prone to wear.

For the sakes of an extra 2 nuts to drop another cap why not pull 2?

Big ends in good condition, probably better than the main bearings. Hard to even tell they have been used . fell much better about that now still not sure about the copper stuff though.

No progress since the last post struggling to find the motivation to get out in the cold and the dark to mess with it.

Still no progress and the Fc is staring to turn green and look very sorry for its self. The sun is shining now though so may be i can summon up the enthusiasm to get out their and do some thing.

I am not sure if this counts as progress, but i have put the battery charger on may be a sunny weekend will yeald some progress.
