Made a start on the gas pipe work. bit harder to do than i had anticipated. I ended up putting in a bolt on brace between the chassis rails to hold the pipework and the gas solenoid. I found it quite difficult to get the pipe to line up with the solenoid, and i was a bit disappointed with the aesthetics of the result , but once the new floor is in nobody will ever see it, so i guess if it all works that will be fine.
next i need to start on the electrics.

The plastic flexible stuff is a lot easier to fit. Made my life so much easier putting it under cars etc when you needed to thread it round stuff than doing it in copper.

Good news and bad news, Went through the LPG inspection and seems to be returning about 10 to the gallon ( i think that's as good as it gets ). Unfortunately i have developed a massive oil leak that i am struggling to find . So much oil that it is all over the placeand hard to pin down. more to follow...

Fixed the leak in the rockers, but it seems like the worst problem is a leak from the back of the sump/ bell housing.... sounds like the crankshaft oil seal

This is the situation after a couple of minutes running at tickover on the drive.

I took it for a four mile spin round the block and when it came back it was realy quite bad

Well I have started taking things apart . seems like there was nothing wrong with the Sump gasket. In fact it was so hard to get off I thought that i had left a bolt in somewhere

All gone a bit more pair shaped .
I made reasonable progress with removing the gear box and flywheel. then i removed the main bearing and the crank oil seals.

My 2.6 is actualy out of a Rover car. At this point I discovered that the oil seal ( and presumably the cranks) used by Land Rover and Rover are different sizes. The Photo on the left show the Land rover seal (left) and rover seal. the middle photo shows the LR seal on top of the rover seal, there is a difference of diameter of around a quarter of an inch
So now i need to find some one who deals in old rover parts
