I saw these at Newbury sortout recently. I’m no expert but pressing and rim/ centre position looked correct for a pukka 203 wheel but as you say had been welded partially on inside and outside (and not a factory weld). They looked tempting and I ummed and aaaahed and walked away as they seemed to have been messed with. Of course I thought the better of it as I could do something with them and went back but what do you know, they had gone!!!

So I’ve got a 5034896 rim and have being trying to find out what it’s off. I’ve checked the Austin, BMC and Leyland parts books for the Champ, Gipsy and LD VAN and it that part number doesn’t come up. Whilst it kind of looks like a gipsy rim it doesn’t have the hub cap mounting points and it has more offset.
Comparing it next to a 569203 it looks nearly identical in manufacture and the front and type of markings it has. Having spoken to a few Austin club guys they’re sure it’s made for a Land Rover.
Has anyone else got any ideas what a 503489 is for/off?

I've listed previosly listed 503489 and it comes with a myriad of mad theories for its source. Now the third time I've seen/heard of them. My best guess is another stamping foul-up. Nonetheless feel lucky to own them, very desirable rims. We'll assume you don't mean 5034896.

Ah, The real-deal too. Can't blame you, and you took my advice. Seems a new price-point arrives. I know the buyer of the last set. Sold him his first set. I suspect he'll take yours. They're rare, most want a set. Mark my words, every idiot and his dog, with anything vaguely deep, will be expecting £500 a corner.
On the other hand, yours.... Good luck, have fun.

Prices do seem to have jumped recently by quite a margin. I had hoped to get a second set of 203s for a project in a couple of years but I can't really do it at these prices.

Yes, I mentioned before there's the other side to this, we can't all have the parts we want.
What I can't grasp is how, in general, when rare and widely desirable items come up, there's an almost blanket refusal to grasp why this drives the price. "More money than sense, I could buy a blah for that, I wouldn't pay half that" etc.
I think I said, I'm after, ahem, an even rarer drop-PTO. Allows O/Drive AND a rear PTO... Seller wanted £3500. Designed to work with your winch. A mad price price perhaps, but he has it, and I want it. Too rich for me, yet that doesn't mean he can't see the price. And he did.
If the hit count on this thread is a judge, a helluva lot of leafer owners can identify rims.
