Quick technical question - axle related

Hi

So, I have a doubt...I think...It resumes to three questions

- Weren't the ENV axles a derivate from an existing american axle?

- And were the Env axles developed to/for the military Land Rovers? Or did the MOD had any part on the development of the Env axles? Were they used on military vehicles prior to be fitted on the 1Ton or the SIIA FC?

- And the Salisbury diffs were a LR development? Or was an update for an existing diff?

ENV axles share a lot of visual similarities with Eaton axles for lighter -pick up truck sized- vehicles and it wouldn't surprise me if there was some shared heritage there.

As far as I'm aware -up to the introduction of the Salisbury as the standard for the rear- military spec axles were reinforced Rover items with the exception being the TACR-1 trucks.
The ENV was available as a Heavy Duty rear axle option on standard LWB models as well as being standard fit on the IIA FC from early 1963.

ENV diffs were in fact pretty common in the 60's, and could be found in the back of Mk II Jags amongst others.

The Salisbury axle is pretty much a Dana 60 unit, so named as they were manufactured in Salisbury, Maryland.
