OK but I think it is fairly safe to say that, on the evidence provided, that these are FC2A or One Ton pattern rims rather than full blooded 92-98mm deepest FC2B's?

I do hope I'm not going to regret starting this as F***wit clearly has much more experience of this than me.

The rims I'll be looking to buy later this week are conditional on them having a minimum 92mm deepest.

I've been found egg-on-face before and no doubt I will again so I apologise in advance for casting aspersions on this seller however something definitely smells. As our esteemed Modmin points out, this seller clearly knows how to identify what he has there, and for reasons of his own has not been forthcoming.

These things are a bastard to identify at the best of times, from some angles they all look the same. Yet vastly different form others. Tyre on so that you can't see the tyre-well, and no rear face to see is hardest. [As we have here]

What these are precisely I'm not sure without spending 10-20 minutes eyeing and comparing, and I can't find the arsededness. (At best 130 rims, and my gut feel) Use that thread and do it yourself if you're bidding. I can tell you these are not the real-deal version and whilst I wouldn't tell you not to buy from this seller, as long as your eyes are open, you 'll be fine. As for how he's measuring, he's either stupid or using a trick of the light. To my knowledge there is no rim with the narrow 'step' he shows when combined with what he measures as a 82mm 'deepset'. Unless there is yet another variant out there. As I said I could be very wrong, but I doubt it.

linesrg: Be careful with referring to any rim as a late 2B and also be careful not to bandy 569203 about unless you know which variant you're buying. I write this more for others reading this thread, it sounds like you are very aware of what you actually want. If you can get a set (with that measurement) grab 'em. They can fetch £600+ eblag, which when you consider that the easier-to-confuse and find imitations go for £450 is cheap. It is because of the confusion created by people like our 'friend' we have this situation. In the flesh I've only ever seen seven proper and complete sets, and I have two of them. I've heard tell of four more.

Yes there is no doubt about the ones on Ellie. It is particularly obvious when you look at the back of the rim where the inner part 'overlaps' the outer.

Using F***wits information I've cut a simple batten which will sit on the rim edge with or without a tyre and take a 6" rule with me. The rims I saw last week and may be buying this week didn't all look the same so I'm buying them on the condition they are what are claimed.

I'll then sell the 204's I bought as:-

a) I don't need them as I have Austin LD's already anyway
b) I need to pay for the new rims

I can see the need for a Deep dish Rim Fakebuster Thread, a bit like the wristwatch collecting sites i sometimes plunder. If I had time to service it, I'd start one. Half the Omegas, Patek, IWC, Rolex and Breitlings on Ebay are fakes. It seems the same could be said of the claims for these rims

Again arsedness foils me, and I can't be bothered to take the time to make certain identification, but here proepr 2 x Forward Control Rims they are not. Gut says 2 x 130 ANR1534 oh dear, (see the squarer tyre well) and 2 x 569204. (see the rivet position in the tyre well, but those could be 543384 ) Oddly he knows what they are yet (as I type this) fails to list the part number, er sorry... I'm not buying it.

But that 'Deep dish Rim Fakebuster Thread' wouldn't be hard to do. With so few Ebay sellers actually selling the rims they claim on, we could all police the listing.
Even if you don't know why, just type "Busted". 95 times out of 100 you'd be spot-on.

I confess I've never actually seen LD rims, only heard tell and put the info in my thread. Now you've got your batten (good idea) can you do a proper deepset measuremnet, I've been adding stuff for a rewrite on htsi stuff, and can't get that info. It is one of the things, with pics, I need to complete that rewrite. People seemed happy to take the info, but wouldn't even add the accurate deepset for a common or garden SWB or LWB rim, something I no longer have! Proper pics too please, I reckon you have the rarest animal of all.

I've even been on hte Austin Forums for the info. Not that I blame them, but no joy. I have the vaguest knowledge on these. For the benefit of all, tell me more

This ^^^ is exactly the kind of rubbish we need to get rid of. That statement is absolutely meaningless, as we KNOW that there was no correlation between rim type and vehicle type. In theory the IIB had the 569203s, and the 1-Ton the 569204, but we know that in practice this was not the case.

With regards to the listing I of course do like the obviously ex-SEB rim, presumably off one of their 1-Tons.
