Hi New Project Possibly Shorland Chassis?

Hi,

. Just wondering if anyone here could help me with a bit of info on my latest project. So it's a stage 1 chassis (Bolt on steering relay etc), it has extended hangers with the lower hole 1.5 inches below the upper one. First registered in Belfast in 1990 but declared manufactured 1981. So yes I know not a 1 ton, my best guess at the moment is a chassis from Shorland of some description (Shorland were based in Belfast). Its been galvanised so no hope of a vin on the chassis. I've not seen any other stage 1 chassis with extended hangers apart from the shorland armoured cars (MK4). Any Ideas?

Welcome!
Aside from a one off 24V FFR prototype (with a hi cap body and painted red) I can't think of any other stage 1 variant with the dropped suspension, so your suggestion of a Shorland would seem sensible, especially with the Belfast connection.
What are your plans for it? I have often wondered what the 1-Ton would have been like had the model survived into the V8 era.

Thanks for the quick reply! I know that the front wings, front doors and bulkhead are from a stage 1 and that they were originally red. The front left wing also has a hole about 2 inches wide on top which has been covered over. It also has some strange brackets on the rear crossmember which someone has told me are identical to the ones on his stage 1 HIcap chassis. It has a bolt on g.box crossmember but a 'normal' rear crossmember apart from the brackets (and lots of weird holes!) I wonder if there's a way to identify a Shorland chassis from one FFR? My plans, well I know its going to have 9.00 or close equivalent tires and so far that's about it until I know what I've actually got!
