I finally got some photos of these.

Oddly the number plate comes up on hpi as a Mini, as do the others either side of it...a workaround registering what could be considered a "dodgy" import?

I love these vans. That one looks great with the winch on the front

Yeah they are kinda cool. Wouldn't mind tracking one down (assuming it was a genuine ex-SEB one) but I imagine parts would be a nightmare...

They were also known in the UK as the Trekmaster.

I have been running a soviet ( Ukrainian) motorbike for 10 years or so and I have found that thanks to the internet most parts have become easier and easier to source. The Soviets tended not to do a lot in the way of product development (like land rover) so lots of models had the same parts for yeas and years.

There are loads of them still on the road in Russia (I drove one when over there doing some green stuff; proper basic and fun) so spares would be easy!

You are quite correct that the basic vehicle is still in production (or at least was until very recently, I would have to check) but I do not know if the underpinnings are the same as the older models, I think engines etc may have changed.
