Not a one-ton so I've posted it here...
Its a vehicle type I've been hunting for for a while, a 110 Rapid Transit Backhoe, and I finally managed to track one down and buy it last August

. It has an interesting history as it was LRs own demonstrator from 1986 to '88 and I believe it was used on military trials (though this is yet to be proven). After that it was owned by the same independent LR dealer for the next 25 years until I bought it!
Couple of pics from the day I got it home after I'd pressure washed all the crud off it…
And one from the original brochure…
Only a handful made as killed off by the mini-digger I suspect. Restoration is underway and if of interest i will post a few pics here as work progresses. Plenty to do but aiming for Dunsfold show next year
Cheers,
Paul

Fantastic find!
Rob Maude of LR Optional Equipment is just restoring the IIA version of this, would be nice to see the pair together.

Yes I spoke to Rob at the last Dunsfold show - he rather rekindled my desire to find a 110 'Beaver' version in fact! Assuming he's at the next one with his, hopefully I will be with mine!

Some progress...
Dismantled the digger over the last few weeks. Had to fight it all the way with every pin being a pig to remove. Lots of heat and lots of hammering to get the job done.
After a long wait, the Beaver digger parts back from sand blasters. Feels like a corner has been turned!

Much of the thinner sheet steel needs replacement but all the big structural stuff is sound.
All the rams have been overhauled by a local hydraulics company (here is just one!)
110 partially dismantled. The chassis is in really good shape I'm pleased to say.
Started stripping paint ready for a respray. Not my favourite job but should be worth the effort
Cheers,
Paul

Dunsfold 2017 should have a fair few very interesting vehicles on show...
